Unexpected (2015 film)
''Unexpected'' is a 2015 American drama film written by Kris Swanberg and Megan Mercier. It stars Cobie Smulders as a teacher at an inner city Chicago high school who unintentionally becomes pregnant. One of her students, Jasmine (Gail Bean), is also unexpectedly pregnant, and the two bond through planning their futures. The film had its world premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2015.〔http://www.sundance.org/projects/unexpected〕 The film was released in a limited release and through video on demand on July 24, 2015, by The Film Arcade.
==Plot==
The film opens with Samantha Abbott looking for a pregnancy test in her bathroom. You learn that she is a inner-city high school teacher whose about to lose her job when the high school she works at closes. When she tells her boyfriend John about her pregnancy, he proposes to her the next morning and says that she can stay home with the baby for the next few years while he supports them. The two then get married, and tell Samantha's mother. After learning that one of her best students Jasmine is also pregnant, she decides to help Jasmine stay on track with graduating and getting into a good college.
